Do you need to peel all fruit and vegetables before juicing

  • No, not all fruit and vegetables.
  • Peel fruit and vegetables with hard skins that is normally not eaten, such as oranges, kiwis, melons, bananas, pomegranates, sweet potato and pumpkin.
  • No need to peel carrots, beetroot, apples, pears, ginger, lemons (in moderation). If covered in soil or sprayed with pesticides – rinse, wash or peel.
  • Note that certain vegetables like celery, wheatgrass and ginger may cause blockages due to its stringy consistency. Cut in smaller pieces and alternate with harder fruit and vegetables like carrots and apples.
  • If there is some clogging, rinse screw and juicing bowl.

Why does the juicer stop in the middle of juicing

  • You may have run the motor for over 30/45 minutes and need to wait 10 minutes for it to cool down before juicing again.
  • Place the motor in a cool temperature area.
  • Too many fruit or vegetables in the juice bowl may overload or over-heat the motor.
  • Wait 10 minutes until the appliance is cooled down to use it again. Put each piece of fruit or vegetable in one by one.
  • Check if any produce is clogged in the juicing screw. Press the reverse button on the side of the base to unclog produce or remove screw and excess pulp. If severely clogged, rinse and place parts back to start
  • juicing again. Ensure all parts are correctly assembled before use.
  • Remove hard or large seeds/pips from fruit or vegetables before use to avoid breaking the juicing screw.
  • If the motor does not start contact our team at sales@kuvings.co.za or on our Whatsapp Question/Repair Line at 081 4444 503.

What do I do if the motor does not work

  • Ensure the plug is plugged in by the power socket at the wall and switched on.
  • Check the bottom of the drum lid to ensure the magnet is still in tact and has not fallen out.
  • Ensure juicing screw is pushed down all the way.
  • Ensure all parts are aligned to the white/red dot system.
  • Ensure the drum lid is turned all the way to the left and clicked in place.
  • The juicer will not start unless all parts have been assembled.

Juicing carrots, celery & cucumber

  • There are no metal blades in a Kuvings Cold Press Juicer that rip and tear the produce open to extract the juice, so prepare veg and fruit properly before juicing.
  • A cold press juicer presses and squeezes produce to extract
  • juice – like chewing. The result is a much richer juice in both nutrients and flavour.
  • To make it easier for the juicer to press, it is recommended to cut carrots in half, lengthways. For the REVO830, you can put whole carrots, celery and cucumber in the second feeding chute.
  • Cut carrots in to small pieces and feed into the juicer.
  • DO NOT OVERLOAD THE JUICER WITH PIECES OF FRUIT/VEG.
  • It is recommended to wait for each piece to be pressed before adding the next piece of fruit/veg to the juicer.
  • Take the time and enjoy making fresh, natural, healthy cold pressed juice.

Why does my juice have pulp in it

More pulp will come through when juicing a lot of carrots and beetroot, as they naturally contain more fibre.

How do I prepare produce for juicing

  • Produce is prepared to size depending on the model juicer and the size of the chute.
  • For a small feeding chute, cut fruit and veg long and thin.
  • For a wide chute, whole apples, pears and oranges can be fed.
  • Cut carrots once long ways.
  • Always cut beetroot in half, laying it flat on the chopping board and then slicing it in 6 – 8 pieces half moon shapes.
  • Cut greens if more than a litre of juice is made at a time.

What is the sorbet smoothie strainer used for

  • Cold pressed frozen desserts like sorbets, ice cream, smoothies, as well as dips, baby food and nut milks.
  • DO NOT put ice through the juicer – it will damage the juicer.

Why does the Kuvings juicer extract faster than other juicers eve though it uses the cold press system

  • Kuvings is an international brand with their own factory and patented cold press juicer motors. The reason why a Kuvings juicer can juice all fruit and vegetables (hard or soft) is due to its strong motor and high torque.
  • The motor is very strong: B1700 at 240 watts (B1700) and the REVO830 at 200 watts.
  • It also has a larger juicing screw with two revolutions. This means it squeezes the juice twice as fast against other juicers with 4 resolutions.

How do I clean my juicer

  • Place both hands on the drum lid and twist to the right to the open position and loosen the lid. Lift o the base and take it to the sink.
  • Rinse in warm water. If it needs some detergent, wash gently with a cleaning cloth or soft spunge to avoid scratches on the surface.
  • Remove the juicing screw, rotation wiper and strainer from the juicing bowl.
  • Tip the strainer upside down into your hand so the juicing screw falls into your hand.
  • Gently pull the strainer out of the rotation wiper.
  • Place all parts into a sink of warm soapy water or rinse thoroughly under warm water.
  • When cleaning the juicing bowl (B1700) you are required to take out the rubber plug under the juicing bowl to rinse through any excess pulp that may be left. Use the end of the brush provided to remove it. It is essential to put the plug back in so the juicing bowl will fit properly on the base of the juicer. Without this plug, pressure is added to the juicer and may result in extra pulp coming in to your juice (only applies to the Kuvings B1700).
  • Wash the strainer properly after each use. Scrape off excess pulp with the cleaning brush and/or rinse under warm water. Put the strainer in the specialised rotation cleaning brush in warm water and turn back and forth until clean.
  • Once rinsed/washed, allow all parts to dry.
  • The cleaning process should take between 2 to 5 minutes.

Note: The cleaner you keep the juicing parts, the better the juicer’s performance to produce high quality juice. Avoid excess juice residue on the parts by rinsing / cleaning directly after use.

Are the parts dishwasher safe

  • Parts are NOT dishwasher safe.
  • Some plastics are BPA-free and therefore do not contain the chemicals that allow it to be dishwasher safe.

How do I assemble my Kuvings juicer correctly

Regardless of your model, the parts that make up your Kuvings Cold Press Juicer are pretty much the same. The order in which you put them together is listed below:

Assemble the juicer correctly by following the red/white dot system:

  1. Unpack all parts in the box and put them on an open surface.
  2. Place the base of the juicer near a power point ready for use.
  3. Kuvings B1700 only: Check under the juicing bowl and ensure rubber seal is sealed.
  4. Place the juicing bowl on the base of the juicer and ensure it clicks comfortably in place – pulp outlet to the left, juice outlet to the front.
  5. Take the strainer and put it in to the rotation wiper. Give the rotation wiper a turn or two so it can turn easily.
  6. Place the rotation wiper and strainer in the juicing bowl, matching the red/white dots. Make sure it clicks comfortably in place.
  7. Take the juicing screw and place it in the middle of the strainer. Allow it to drop in naturally. Gently push it down to make sure it clicks in place. If it does not go all the way down turn it slightly and push down gently, until it clicks in place.
  8. Place the drum lid on the juicer bowl to match the red dot and click/turn it to the left to lock it in.
  9. Plug in your juicer at the power point and turn the juicer on by pressing the power button on the side of the base.
  10. For safety reasons all the parts need to follow the white/red dot system. The juicer will not switch on if all parts are not correctly assembled.

The lid is stuck after juicing

There may be extra pulp accumulated underneath the juicing screw. Firmly press down the centre of the drum lid while turning it counterclockwise to open. Also try pressing “Reverse” to unclog any food.

Juicing bowl is shaking in middle of operating

It is completely normal that juicing bowl is shaking little bit while operating.

Stops during use

Adding too much food too quickly to the juicer may clog the strainer and/or cause overheating. Wait a few minutes for the appliance to cool down again. Once the motor starts, use the reverse button to unclog the food. Also disassemble the parts and clean the strainer.

I think the juicing screw/auger is grinding itself

Try to avoid turning on the juicer if there are no ingredients in it.

It doesn’t turn on

Check if the plug is plugged properly. If the motor still won’t start, contact your Service Centre.

Motor stops during use

Check if the plug is plugged properly. Also check to see if any food is clogged in the screw or machine. Push the “Reverse” button to dislodge any food that may be stuck. If the motor still won’t start, contact your Service Centre.

The strainer does not separate the juice

Adding too much food too quickly to the juicer may clog the strainer. Use the reverse button to unclog the food. Also disassemble the parts and clean the strainer.

Amount of juice is too little

All produce is different, with freshness often determining the amount of juice in it. To extract more juice out of refrigerated produce, soak them in clean water. When juicing, combine low fiber foods (such as carrots) with high fiber foods (such as kale) to decrease the moisture of the pulp and increase the amount of juice. Check if the pressure silicone is assembled properly. Also, cut hard ingredients down to size.

The juice pulp still has too much liquid

When juicing, combine low fiber foods (such as carrots) with high fiber foods (such as kale) to decrease the moisture of the pulp and increase the amount of juice.

When juicing grapes, the skins do not come out

Instead of using a juicing nozzle, use the mincing nozzle for better results.

Juice is leaking from juice cover outlet during juicing

Juice may leak out if the pulp container is not fitted properly. Please make sure the pulp container is locked into place.

Juicer vibrates excessively

Stop the juicer and reassemble the juicer properly. Make sure the juicing screen is properly seated and no parts are broken.

Safety locking arms will not lock

Check that the parts are perfectly aligned before locking the arms. The parts will only fit in the orientation shown in the manual. Do not force the locking arms shut if parts are misaligned.
